warren harris did a sterling job on his first outing for perpetual rhythms as hanna, and he s back for round two. things are just as deep as you would hope and expect, with harris unique take on the detroit house formula present and correct on the cleverly executed -lake shore dr.- -parallel- finds him exploring his penchant for snagged, off-kilter rhythms matched with deep house delicacy, and -gold coast- takes things into lounge territory without ever sounding insipid. therein lies the magic of hanna, and beautiful experiment -khords 1- is on hand to finish the ep off as a statement of just how special and unique harris music is.

we were very happy to be asked by connaisseur recordings if they could put out another album with our music! now it s all come together and they ve asked us to do our own press release for it and quite like the album, we want to do it in our own way, personal and from the heart. it s been a few years since our last connaisseur album, and a lot has happened since. we ve built a new studio, matured musically, acquired new gear, sold old gear, done a lot of gigs, lost faith in music and regained it again. the process of making the loneliest man in space (this album) was a genuinely pleasant experience, as we never really set out to make an album at all. we didn t conceptualize or have any grandiose plans, we simply enjoyed ourselves in the studio. inspiration was running high, so we focused on making a lot of music uninterrupted, rather than signing tracks, which left us with quite a bulk of unsigned material. the idea to release these tracks as an album came from our friend alex, at connaisseur. we instantly jumped on the idea, listened through the material, taking some tracks out and composing a few new ones, to make it sit more together as a whole. we tried to come up with a title that would ft the feeling of the sum of tracks and settled on the loneliest man in space. as the album, to our ears, sounds a little melancholic and a little spacey. we sincerely hope that you enjoy the album either as a listening experience, a dance experience or something in between!

n’toko ist ein experimenteller hip hop-künstler und produzent aus slowenien. seine ersten sporen verdiente er sich als frontmann eines lokalen hip hop-kollektivs namens moveknowledgement. n’toko wurde schnell durch sein technisches können und seine schnelligkeit als rapper bekannt und gewann dadurch sogar zwei nationale freestyle-wettbewerbe hintereinander. neben drei slowenisch-sprachigen alben veröffentlichte er mehrere eps in englischer sprache, von denen zwei auch in japan auf dem markt kamen. diese beiden scheiben haben mittlerweile kultstatus bei underground hip hop-fans und liebhabern alternativer musik erreicht. parallel dazu spielte n’toko ausgiebige touren in europa und den usa, wo er gast auf diversen festivals war (u.a. reeperbahn festival, glastonbury, exit, inmusic, best buy theatre nyc). derzeit engagiert n’toko sich auch politisch in slowenien und hat sich zum viel-gelesenen kolumnist und autor gemausert. auf unique erscheint sein neues album “emirates”, und es vereint kritische texte, straighte beats und düstere, elektronische sounds.

newcomer label substrato features dorian gray on its third release. gray, aka moreno mariotti, is an italian-based artist whose music culls from a broad range of influences that rest somewhere between surrealism and sci-fi. this third installation is a canvas of obscure atmospheres and hypnagogic patterns, the textures of which play to the label’s orientation towards the acoustics that embody subterranean and submerged worlds.

after a few digital releases, lunar convoy delivers a masterfully executed debut ep to inaugurate newcomer belgian imprint norite’s vinyl series. counting northern electronics, hypnus records, semantica and prologue among his main influences, lunar convoy’s first effort is utterly coherent while not failing to evoke a plurality of emotions. imbued with sacred atmospheres, infiltrated with mysticism, ritualistic melodies and aesthetically charged rhythms, outer rim territories is a testimony of his love for deeper realms. on the a side, seswenna’s trancey lead synth and pumping bass opens the ep with an excursion towards distant planets. ryloth ventures into darker fields, scattered with whirring and saturated analog complains and haunted by ancient voices. on the flip side, eriadu sets a more mystical pace with syncopated kicks and floating eerie pad, to embark on a parallel dimension. allen’s take on ryloth is symptomatic of the us-based producer, speeding things up and offering a stripped down version filled with devastating hi-hats and firing toms to end this solid 4-tracker with the hypnotic-yet-effective sound that got him signed on attic music, m_rec ltd, polegroup or more recently granulart recordings. with such a captivating release, lunar convoy has set a high bar for the upcoming releases and left us under his sway.

mac quayle ist komponist und der sound-engineer von cliff martinez. cliff martinez wiederum ist ein gefragter sondtrack-komponist in hollywood, seine scores zu -drive-, -spring breakers- (zusammen mit skrillex) und -solaris- gelten als einige der ikonischen film-musiken der jüngeren gegenwart. mac quayle hat an diesen mitgearbeitet, parallel pop-musik von künstlern wie new order, beyonce und britney spears produziert oder mit einem remix versehen und sich jüngst an eigene tv-soundtracks herangewagt. -american horror story: freak show- und -mr. robot- sind populäre beispiele. -mr. robot- wurde 2016 mit dem golden globe awards 2016: beste serie - drama und dem critics choice awards 2016: beste dramaserie, bester hauptdarsteller in einer dramaserie ausgezeichnet. mac quayles vornehmlich elektronisch ausgelegter score interpretiert den paranoiden grundton der serie perfekt. von seiner arbeit mit martinez beeinflusst, bewegt er sich auch in das terrain eines trent reznor (nine inch nails) und lässt düstere sounds miteinander kollidieren. weißes doppel-vinyl im klappcover, downloadcode inklusive.
